1.5 to 2 cups sugar
½ cup evaporated milk
½ teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 stick butter or margarine
½ to 1 cup of nuts
2 ½ cups of quick cooking oats (not instant)
Combine sugar, milk, cocoa and butter in heavy saucepan. After it comes to a bubble, cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and nuts and mix well. Then mix in oatmeal thoroughly. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Putting them in the fridge helps them firm up.
